Well Done Good & Faithful Servant

African American culture has a high value for christianity.

What if I've lost my faith?

Lost in the guilt of your past

Trapped in bondage

Loss of faith

Confused on whether you’re enough

Waking up to the voices of every past sin

Screaming for God to bring you to pass because you can’t seem to believe in your purpose

You don’t understand why

So you ask God

But you’re so far away from him

You don’t understand how he communicates

You’ve believed the lies that he doesn’t hear your cries

Cause it is easier to turn away

It’s hard to keep the faith

But when you decided to make the change

You give yourself the capability to hear well done good & faithful servant

Do yourself a favor and no longer neglect your needs

It’s ok to cry out to god

Sometimes that’s the only prayer worth giving

How do I maintain my faith?

Embrace your doubts…

God tells us things such as to pray without ceasing and be anxious for nothing, he didn’t give us a spirit of fear, etc. He knew the things we would have to face living in this world. Which is why he tells us not to be of this world. But since we live in this world doubt is an understandable belief we constantly encounter. However, don’t dwell on those negative thoughts. When you see doubt surfacing in your belief system, take the time to understand that you are not wrong for having those beliefs but remember to counter them. There will be doubts you’ll ever find your spouse. Fear you might not reach your full potential. You probably have doubts about your chances to hear “well done good and faithful servant”. But remember doubt is a part of your faith journey.

Study God’s word…

Do you know why so many people get away with teaching false doctrine? Because God’s people do not know his word. To have a better relationship with God we must study and understand his word. When you study God’s word you realize everything that is happening or going to happen in your world has already come to pass for others. He gives us the tools we need to “keep the faith”. Now I don’t mean study God’s words in the sense of old-school holy rollers who just say “read your bible”. Reading your bible won’t help you any when you don’t understand what you’re reading. So take the time to find study plans in the Bible App. That way you start somewhere that focuses on exactly what you need at that particular time in your life.

Where do I go?

Find community…

Don’t you love being amongst people you know genuinely love you or simply just like you? It’s a beautiful feeling to experience. Even when you have just one person you can do life with is life-changing. I understand things such as age, being an introvert, or simply not trusting others makes it harder to form meaningful relationships. But, you have to be intentional about finding community. And finding community doesn’t mean only in the church. God’s people are everywhere.

So ask yourself what do you enjoy? Is it cooking? Take a pasta-making class at Eataly and meet new people. Is it sports? To be honest I’m not really into sports but I know there are numerous clubs you can join. Traveling? Take your next trip with a travel group. Don’t limit your community to just one area of your life. Yes, find your community at a bible preaching, people-loving church. But also find your community in your hobbies and your business interests. Take the time to be intentional with your relationships with others. They’ll benefit you in more ways than you may think.

Live for your purpose…

Your purpose is not simply to be a mom or a husband. God gave every last one of us gifts, talents, and ministries meant to glorify him. So stop making yourself small. Want to be an actor? Start auditioning. Want to be a fashion designer? Start sketching. How about a musician? There are open mics and the media to promote yourself everywhere. Don’t allow the pressures of life to take away from your true passions. Passion is what’s going to give you the ability to have true happiness, and fulfillment when you wake up every day.

Prayer and fasting…

My favorite testimony is that there is absolutely nothing I’ve prayed for that I didn’t get. May not have happened immediately but it came to pass in some fashion. God hears our prayers and he answers them. Prayer is one of the most powerful tactics one can use against the enemy. It is a time where you can be completely honest about any and everything. It’s easy to get caught up in the ideology that God loves us all and all we have to do is believe that Jesus was the son of God and died on the cross for our sins. Which is true. But getting more attuned with not only your salvation in Christ but also your sanctification will only help you even more in this roller coaster journey of life.

Fasting allows for you to not only cleanse your body but also your mind. Sometimes cutting out all the noise, distractions, and food gives us an ability to go deeper. Never fasted before. That’s okay. Start by merely taking something away first. Start with just taking sugar out of your diet for the week. Then gradually work your way up to the 24hr, 72 hr, heck the 40 day fast with no food at all. I’m going to be completely transparent. I have never fasted completely without food for more than three days. However, when we take the time to start making strides and going deeper with God, he reveals himself even more plain than before.

Well Done Good & Faithful Servant

Matthew 25:23

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant;thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
